Project Controller
Morson are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Controller to support one of our critical Defence suppliers based in Dorset. You will support the Project Control Team Lead by creating schedule, actual, time, cost and subcontract assessments. We’re ideally looking for a project controller with experience of working in the Defence sector or similar engineering industry. You will need to have earned value management experience, SAP or other ERP experience and able to use Microsoft project and Gantt charts to apply project controls.
The role is being offered on a 6-month contract basis, but there is possibility of a permanent conversion if successful. You can work remotely for 2 days a week with 3 days on site in Dorchester. The rate is negotiable for this role as the hiring team are keen to bring in a strong contractor who can hit the ground running.
Key responsibilities
- Creation and maintenance of Microsoft Project schedules (Gantt chart).
- Ensuring estimates and forecasts are accurate.
- Scheduling of all project activities to produce a logically linked, fully costed and resource loaded project plan.
- Monitoring and tracking of work package schedule and budgets / forecasts.
- Compile a standard suite of reports to ensure the project manager and project teams has up to date and accurate project information.
- Challenge cost, schedule & resource forecasting to ensure the project schedules are reflective of reality.
- Support to the generation of the Business level reporting and Business Intelligence (BI) data in support of the project.
Requirements
- Experience of planning and project controls within a Defence or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with the project lifecycle management techniques.
- Risk management, earned value management and critical path awareness.
- Used Microsoft Project to apply project controls.
- Familiar working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4 Hana.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical, engineering and operational issues and relate these back to delivery implications.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
