Job overview and responsibilities
The Analyst - Forecasting Modeling, is responsible for the planning and execution of spare parts inventory forecasting activities supporting the United Airlines Supply Chain organization. This position will interact with multiple supply chain areas, i.e. inventory management, vendor management, components and engines shops, warehousing, and logistics functions. This analyst will support on the development and maintenance of the spare parts inventory forecasting processes and analytical tools, strategic analysis, process improvement support, and other related decision support tools. This role will be responsible for the execution of the scheduled and ad-hoc forecasting models, and their ongoing maintenance as applicable.
• Maintain, enhance and otherwise support the models for the spare parts inventory forecast and ensure they continue to stay valuable and relevant
• Support strategic Supply Chain initiatives with analysis accompanied by actionable recommendations
• Collaborate with stakeholders (both frontline and executive level) to identify processes strategies, or decisions that can be improved by leveraging analytic insight
• Monitor forecasting model performance metrics and identify operational and financial improvement opportunities
• Individually develop and execute toward project plans
• Continuous improvement of the forecasting tools

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
• Bachelors degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, operations research or engineering required
• One to three years of experience in an analytics or data science role required
• Proved ability to develop machine learning models on industry data.
• Programming experience in a scripting language such as Python or R along with OOPS concept knowledge is must.
• Familiarity with relational database models and SQL
• Familiarity with Statistical Forecasting techniques, i.e. ARIMA, Exponential Smoothing, etc.
• Experience communicating and visualizing complex analysis to specific audiences and at the appropriate level of abstraction
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):• Masters degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, data science/machine learning, operations research and/or MBA preferred
• Knowledge of big data scripting languages like PySpark etc. is good to have.
• Experience developing and deploying forecasting models using scripting programming languages such as R, SAS and Python
• Familiarity with the airline industry
• Baseline understanding of supply chain functions including sourcing/procurement, vendor management, inventory planning, warehousing, and logistics.
• Familiarity with Line and Base maintenance planning and operations
• Experience using traditional statistical and industrial engineering techniques (e.g. inference testing, statistical process control, economic order model and process flow analysis)
• Familiarity with spare parts demand forecasting techniques
• Familiarity with Supply Chain models
