PROCESS PLANNER (STARSHIP LAUNCH HARDWARE)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze department performance and drive improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and reliability
- Provide data and reports on production performance to influence decisions on how to increase productivity
- Assist supervisors and welders to coordinate shop and field activity to support project schedules
- Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and ability to effectively coordinate team activity with all trades
- Develop robust solutions for raw material availability and planning
- Utilize internal SpaceX resources and external vendors as needed
- Ensure launch assets are physically configured for upgrades and work areas are accessible by coordinating with launch pad and recovery vessel operations teams
- Create and implement solutions for safe project site operations per SpaceX EH&S direction
- Support project engineering team as needed with other project preparations and shop/field coordination
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of professional experience in a fabrication, production, or manufacturing environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in a technical or business field
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing planning or technical writing within a fabrication, production, or manufacturing environment
- Experience of pipe fitting, and principals of welding
- Experience in overhead cranes and forklifts
- Experience with LEAN and 5S methodologies
- Experience with inventory management, shipping/receiving, and material flow
- Experience converting engineering instructions and information into content intended for a variety of audiences and ability levels
- Experience with data analysis skills with Excel, Python, SQL, and/or other analysis tools
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse co-workers within the engineering, technician, and leadership teams
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- General physical fitness is required for some work areas, hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs. unassisted
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work at elevated heights
- Ability to work in extreme environments – heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
