Role IntroductionReports to: Assistant Engineering Manager, KIX

Deliver safe, reliable line maintenance that keeps aircraft moving and customers confident. This role sits at the heart of Cathay’s operational delivery, where licensed engineering judgement directly protects safety, on time performance, and the cabin experience across North Asia stations.
Working on a shift basis, the position involves certifying routine and non‑routine maintenance on Cathay and, where applicable, third‑party aircraft, while coordinating closely with operational teams and ground handling partners. The work spans daily technical decision‑making, oversight of station equipment and facilities, and hands‑on response to disruptions such as diversions, aircraft changes, and recovery operations.
Beyond certification, the role contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, ensuring that every departure reflects Cathay’s commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism - even under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and certify routine and non‑routine aircraft maintenance on a shift basis in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with internal operational teams to deliver safe, reliable, and punctual flight operations
- Ensure compliance with local Occupational Health and Safety standards, regulations, and guidelines
- Oversee the performance of ground handling third‑party suppliers at the station
- Execute contingency plans and support ad hoc operational needs, including diversions, charters, aircraft type changes, and major disruption recovery
- Ensure station ground equipment, vehicles, and facilities are available, serviceable, and clean
- Manage station administration, ensuring documentation and passes remain valid and up to date
- Undertake local or overseas operational relief duties as required
- Contribute to continuous improvement through quality initiatives, teamwork, lean processes, and operational efficiency
- Fulfil emergency, accident, and crisis response responsibilities when required
Requirements- Hold a B1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance License issued by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department or an equivalent authority, with appropriate aircraft type endorsement
- Bring a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment
- Demonstrate solid operational and technical knowledge relevant to line maintenance activities
- Show effective communication and problem‑solving skills in operational settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Japanese
- Must have the legal right to live and work in Japan
Benefits- Base salary: JPY481,110 ~ (determined based on experience and skills)
- Title allowance: JPY50,000/month
- Defined contribution pension plan: JPY55,000/month
- Other allowances: the company regulations apply
- Social insurance: Unemployment insurance, Workers compensation insurance, Health insurance, Welfare pension insurance
- Commuting expense allowance: Up to JPY50,000/month
- Break time: 1 hour/day
- Off day: Two days off every week
- Probation period: 3 months
- Annual leave: 16 days in the first year after completing probationary period (prorated based on the month of joining)
