About the Role & Your ImpactAs part of the Materials and Processes Engineering team you’ll support the Puget Sound NDE and Measurement Systems Engineering Team—an organization responsible for certification, qualification, and advanced NDE technology across commercial and defense aircraft programs.
You’ll contribute to aircraft platforms including the 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, B-1B, and P-8, supporting everything from research and development to in-service airframe operations. Your expertise will directly influence aircraft integrity, regulatory compliance, supplier qualification, and customer confidence across the enterprise.

Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Consultant
Schedule: Monday–Friday First Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate Starting at: $70 per hour
Work Statement: Non-managerial, non-leadership role. Regular and predictable attendance required.
What You’ll DoIn this highly visible engineering role, you will:
Develop NDE procedures supporting airline customer maintenance inspections
Design and validate NDE reference standards aligned with inspection requirements
Create engineering specifications and technical documentation to meet customer and program needs
Evaluate emerging NDE technologies for potential aerospace application
Support development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
Perform routine tests and supplier audits to ensure compliance with applicable standards
Assist in corrective and preventive action implementation
Use project management tools to manage cost, schedule, and technical performance
Integrate Environmental Health & Safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into engineering and lab practices
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required QualificationsBachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
1+ years of engineering experience
Strong analytical skills and understanding of failure analysis fundamentals
Desire to work in non-destructive evaluation and inspection technologies
Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
Education/Experience Level:
Bachelor’s with 9+ years’ experience, Master’s with 7+ years’ experience, or PhD with 4+ years’ experience.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with CAD systems (CATIA, SolidWorks)
Experience with NDI/NDE systems such as ultrasonics or eddy current
Aviation or aerospace industry experience
Knowledge of materials science, including metals and composites
Experience writing non-destructive inspection procedures for commercial aircraft
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams

Pay Details: $70.00 to $85.00 per hour
