We are seeking a SAP S/4 Functional Manufacturing Resource to drive global template design, configuration governance, and best-practice adoption across Production Planning (PP), Manufacturing Execution integration, and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) operations.
This leader will serve as the functional design authority for manufacturing processes, ensuring scalable configuration, complex BOM/recipe management, and operational excellence across discrete and regulated manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Functional Leadership & Best Practices
- Lead SAP S/4 manufacturing solution design workshops.
- Define and govern scalable global manufacturing templates aligned to SAP best practices.
- Enforce clean-core design principles and minimize unnecessary customization.
- Standardize manufacturing processes across plants and business units.
- Serve as functional design authority for PP and MRO workstreams.
Configuration Ownership
Production Planning (PP)
- Lead hands-on configuration for:
- Production orders
- Work centers and routings
- Capacity planning
- MRP integration
- Production scheduling
- Support make-to-stock, make-to-order, and engineer-to-order models.
- Ensure alignment between production execution and financial postings.
Complex BOMs & Recipes
- Configure and govern:
- Multi-level BOM structures
- Variant configuration
- Phantom assemblies
- Co-products and by-products (where applicable)
- Engineering change management integration
- Support serialized and traceable manufacturing environments.
- Ensure accurate cost roll-ups and valuation alignment.
- Enable effective integration with PLM systems.
Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO)
- Configure SAP S/4 to support:
- Repair order management
- Serviceable vs. non-serviceable materials
- Serialized asset tracking
- Component teardown and rebuild processes
- Warranty and service contract integration
- Support heavy maintenance and turnaround operations.
- Enable visibility into repair cycle time and asset availability.
Manufacturing & Operations Integration
- Ensure seamless integration across:
- Supply Chain & MRP
- Quality Management (QM)
- Procurement (P2P)
- Finance (R2R)
- Order to Cash (OTC)
- Align manufacturing configuration to enterprise structure and cost accounting.
- Support production variance analysis and operational reporting.
RICEFW Design & Governance
- Define and document functional requirements for RICEFW objects.
- Author high-quality Functional Design Documents (FDDs).
- Participate in design authority reviews to ensure clean-core compliance.
- Partner with technical teams to minimize custom object footprint.
- Support SIT, UAT, regression testing, and cutover readiness.
Data & Governance
- Collaborate with MDM teams to ensure governance of:
- Material master data
- BOM structures
- Work centers and routings
- Equipment and asset masters
- Support data migration validation and production readiness.
- Ensure traceability and audit compliance.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10+ years SAP Manufacturing functional experience.
- 3+ full lifecycle SAP implementations (minimum 1 S/4HANA).
- 5+ years leading manufacturing workstreams or global teams.
Required Expertise
- Deep SAP S/4 configuration experience in:
- Production Planning (PP)
- MRP integration
- Manufacturing execution processes
- Maintenance / MRO processes
- Strong expertise managing complex, multi-level BOM structures.
- Experience supporting serialized manufacturing environments.
- Proven RICEFW functional design leadership.
- Strong cross-module integration knowledge (FI, MM, SD, QM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace & Defense or complex discrete manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting heavy maintenance or overhaul operations.
- Experience in global template harmonization or carve-out initiatives.
- Exposure to embedded manufacturing analytics and KPI enablement.
