Responsibilities
Lead a team of Inflight Base Operations Supervisors, Supervisors on Duty, Attendance & Reliability Supervisors, and a growing team of 4,000+ Flight Attendants to deliver industry-leading safety, operational reliability, training, and financial performance, while meeting regulatory/contractual obligations and developing a culture of service, engagement, and partnership.
- Develop and lead an exceptional group of Inflight Team Members by fostering commitment, trust, and support to drive team engagement. Ensure that the team has the tools needed to deliver exceptional operational and service performance.
- Ensure that operational goals and metrics are met or exceeded through strategic planning, initiative execution, Team Member communication, coaching, and accountability.
- Manage and motivate Inflight Leadership team to ensure superior operational performance and dedication to the execution of efficient, safe/secure, and guest-centric day-to-day operations. Leverage and use our organizational mission and values to drive optimum results.
- Lead the Attendance & Reliability team to ensure the consistent application of discipline for Flight Attendant attendance and reliability incidents.
- Oversee the 24/7 Supervisor on Duty (SOD) team to ensure optimal support for Flight Attendants when base leadership is unavailable.
- Responsible for Team Member recruitment, training, performance, coaching, leadership development, career planning, and disciplinary actions following company best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Provide strategic guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and other related issues.
- Ensure that all Spirit and regulatory standards and procedures are followed, including leading the Inflight Emergency Response Program.
- Indirectly responsible for staffing levels, pay-to-block performance, and scheduling. Closely interacts and provides recommendations for process improvements, efficiencies, and best practices to Inflight Training, Crew Resources, Compliance, Procedures and Standards, and Human Resources.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with operational and non-operational counterparts (e.g. Senior Leadership, Airport Services, Flight Operations, Technical Operations, HR, Crew Resources, AFA Leadership, FAA, and OSHA).
- Responsible for the accurate and successful implementation of ratified CBA revisions. Ensure all CBA, LOA/LOU, grievance settlements, and arbitration awards are complied with by all organizations within the company, and provide recommendations for resolutions.
- Participates with Legal and leadership team in the negotiation with bargaining units with regards to, but not limited to, labor contracts, grievance issues, investigations, and contract settlements.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge in the following areas: company & Inflight policies, FAM, FAA Regulations, and operational specifications.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs or technical developments.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of prior management experience.
Additional Certifications:
- Basic Requirements: Identify the physical, mental, and environmental requirements of the job. Examples: Fly and serve as a crewmember for extended duty all hours of the day.
- Is able to effectively provide leadership and manage a large staff.
- Has a deep understanding of the intricacies and interplay of flight schedules, crew scheduling, labor contracts and crew behavior in the airline industry.
- Knows CBA language and can interpret all provisions accurately.
- Have a full understanding of the following materials with respect to the certificate holders operation -
- Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
- 14 CFR Chapter I (Federal Aviation Regulations)
- The certificate holders operations specifications
- The manual required by § 121.133 of this chapter
- Discharge their duties to meet applicable legal requirements and to maintain safe operations.
- Domestic & International travel under 10 of time.
- Exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work.
- Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
